For the beauty-conscious consumer, finding the optimal storage for skincare products has been an ongoing challenge. Many lotions, serums, and masks are best kept chilled, but traditional refrigerators are often too cold. Hisense believes it has the solution with its new Smart French 4-Door Refrigerator (Model HRM260N6TSE).
The key innovation is the VersaTemp Zone drawer, which allows precise temperature control between 27°F and 41°F (-2.8°C to 5°C). While most refrigerators are set around 35-38°F (1.7-3.3°C) for food storage, many skincare experts recommend slightly warmer temperatures of 40-60°F (4.4-15.6°C) for cosmetic products.
“Storing skincare like sheet masks and eye creams in a chilled environment helps preserve ingredients like vitamin C and retinol that are sensitive to heat and light,” explained Lindsay Zollman, senior consumer analyst at Hisense’s Home Appliance R&D Center. "The cool temps also protect against bacteria growth and product degradation that can occur with humidity and heat exposure."
Benefits of chilled application go beyond just preservation. Applying a refreshingly cold product is said to reduce puffiness, redness, and irritation by constricting blood vessels. The chilled temperature can also feel soothing on the skin.
Hong Kong actress and style icon Teresa Chang, 61, recommends using a refrigerated primer each morning before her makeup routine. “It wakes up my complexion," she wrote in her blog post. "The coldness brings an instant refreshing feel that you will love in the morning makeup routine.”
For those with skincare fridges, keeping products at the perfect temperature has often been a guessing game. Having a fridge drawer with flexible and adjustable controls eliminates that hassle.
Products well-suited for the VersaTemp Zone drawer include sheet masks, hydrating mists, toners, gel moisturizers and masks. The adjustable temperature allows finding the optimal chilling level for each formulation based on its ingredients. More stable formulas can be kept slightly cooler.
With its spacious French door design and specialized drawer, the Smart French 4-Door Refrigerator from Hisense aims to be a central home hub – storing both food provisions and personal care products in their ideal climate-controlled conditions. The versatile appliance is now available at Lowe’s home improvement stores nationwide.
For consumers seeking streamlined beauty storage, the latest refrigerator tech may be just what the beautician ordered. “This solves a real problem for so many people who want to properly care for their skincare investments. Speaking from personal experience, skincare products can be expensive. The idea that I don't have to purchase a beauty fridge and can use my Hisense VersaTemp Zone drawer for this purpose is exciting,” said Zollman. “Having that flexible, cool drawer makes all the difference.”
